The U.K. and Ireland cinematic landscape experienced a notable uplift this past weekend, largely propelled by the release of Disney's latest animation, "Toy Story 5." The film secured the top position, amassing an impressive £15.3 million ($20.2 million) in its debut.

Launching across more than 300 cinemas, the Pixar production not only recorded the largest opening weekend in the franchise's history within this territory but also commanded a remarkable 72% of all ticket revenue over the three-day period. Following this animated success, Universal's science fiction thriller, "Disclosure Day," directed by Steven Spielberg and featuring Emily Blunt and Josh O'Connor, landed in second place during its second weekend, adding $2.2 million to its coffers for a cumulative total of $11.9 million. Universal also secured the third spot with Curry Barker's horror-romance, "Obsession," which garnered $1.2 million, pushing its total earnings to $20.3 million.

Further down the list, Paramount's "Scary Movie" reboot claimed fourth place with an additional $735,071, elevating its overall earnings to $11.1 million. A24's psychological horror, "Backrooms," followed at number five, pulling in $588,183, bringing its total to $15.5 million. Sony's "Masters Of The Universe" secured sixth place with $523,585, reaching a total of $6.5 million, while Universal's musical biopic "Michael" took seventh, with $421,869 contributing to a substantial $69.2 million total. Disney's "Star Wars" spin-off, "The Mandalorian And Grogu," earned $289,949, boosting its total to $20.3 million, and Bakrania Media's "Cocktail 2" debuted in ninth place with $249,874. Rounding out the top ten, Disney's "The Devil Wears Prada 2" added $111,833, bringing its long-running total to $45 million.

Looking ahead, the cinematic calendar is packed with a diverse array of upcoming releases, ranging from major studio blockbusters to independent specialized features. On Thursday, June 25, Warner Bros. will introduce its high-stakes superhero film "Supergirl" in over 300 venues, alongside National Theatre’s special presentation of "Les Liaisons Dangereuses – NT Live 2026." Additionally, True Brit Entertainment will release the British drama "500 Miles," while Picturehouse Entertainment brings Anders Thomas Jensen's comedy-drama "The Last Viking," starring Mads Mikkelsen and Nikolaj Lie Kaas, to over 25 screens. Independent and specialized films arriving on Friday include Sophy Romvari's drama "Blue Heron," John Woo's classic action film "A Better Tomorrow (4K Restoration)," and the musical documentary "Glastonbury The Movie: 30th Anniversary Cut." Limited releases, appearing on fewer than 25 screens, feature Callum Burn's military drama "Landship," the nature documentary "How To Live On Earth" narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch, Underground Slate's "The Toymakers Key," Bakrania Media's Punjabi comedy sequel "Carry On Jatta 4," Lionsgate's martial arts epic "The Furious," and Anime Ltd's special event presentation "The Ghost In The Shell (TV Preview Event).".
